The Thonburi side of the city still features an extensive network of canals leading off the Chaophraya River. Come and see this fascinating water borne way of life that has existed in Thailand for many centuries. We take an exciting boat ride along the canals, and it is surprising how quickly we seem to be in the countryside full of orchards, palm trees and rice fields. The canal side community life is fascinating. Back onto the river again, we will visit the impressive Wat Arun, the beautiful Temple of Dawn, one of the symbols of the city of Bangkok, decorated with pieces of Chinese porcelain. You can climb up to higher parts of the temple, but beware, the steps are thin and very steep, and not for anyone who suffers from vertigo!
